Innovation of "reciting 70,000 times la ilaha illa Allah to be saved from the Hell fire
The act of worship in Religion are restricted, it means that you are not allowed to do an act of worship to get closer to Allah, unless you have a proof from the Qur'an and/or the Authentic Sunnah with the Understanding of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with all of them).
A bid'ah (innovation) means, according to Islamic teaching:
It is defined as any invented way in religion that is aimed at worshipping or drwing closer to Allah. This means anything that is not referred to specifically in Sharee'ah, and for which there is no evidence in the Qur'an or Authentic Sunnah, and which was not known at the time of the Prophet (salla Allah alayhi wa sallam) and his Companions. At the same time, it is quite obvious that this definition of religious inventions or innovations, which are condemned, does not include worldly inventions (such as cars, washing machines, mobiles...)
The Question: Why no one is allowed to do what he believes it is good, to get closer to Allah?
Answer: Because Allah The Most High said (translation of the meaning of the verse):
"This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion." [Surah 5 verse 3]
So Allah The Most High informs us that the Religion that Allah acceptes is COMPLETE, so there is nothing to add or to take off.
If someone does not want or accept this, it will not be accepted from him, because the Religion of Islam that Allah The Most High accepts and agree is the Religion that Allah The Most High legislated, NOT what people want to legislate and introduce as act of worship, believing it is OK, no harm in this, and believing that Allah will accept their own legislation!!
Allah The Most High says (translation of the meaning of the verse):
"Or have they other deities who have ordained for them a religion to which Allah has not consented?" [Surah 42 verse 21]
So the religion accepted by Allah is the one that Allah legislated.
Allah The Most High says (translation of the meaning of the verse):
"Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam." [Surah 3 verse 19]
"And whoeverdesires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers." [Surah 3 verse 85]
Ibn Majashun said: I heard Malik (Imam Malik) saying:
"Who innovate in Islam an Innovation, and see that is good, he then accused the Messenger of Allah to have BETRAYED the Message, because Allah says "This day I have perfected for you your religion", so what was not a religion in the time of the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayhi wa sallam) will never be a religion nowaday."
[Al I'tissaam - Imam Ash-Shaatibee]
AbdAllah Ibn Mass'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), a Companion of the Prophet Muhammad (salla Allah alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Follow (the Sunnah) and do not innovate, and that is enough for you - stick to the old way"
Hudhayfah ibn al Yamaan (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
"Every worship that has not been done by the companions of Rassoolullah, then do not do it"
The Prophet (salla Allah alayhi wa sallam) stated repeatedly that:
"Every newly-invented thing is a bid'ah (innovation), every bid'ah is going astray, and every going astray will be in th fire" [reported by a-Nissa'i in a-Sunan]
Imam Muslim reported in his saheeh ahadeeth that A'isha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (salla Allah alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Who does an act of worship that is NOT part of our command, it will be rejected" [Saheeh Muslim]
The author of this book "Faza'il-e-A'amaal": Muhammad Zakariyya Kaandhalawi wrote: "This incident proved useful to me in two ways: firstly, the blessing of reciting the Kalimah seventy thousand times was proved by actual experience... "
However, there is no evidence in the Qur'an or in the Authentic Sunnah, or actions of the Companions that justify such practice (i.e.: reciting 70,000 times la ilaha illa Allah to be saved from the Fire of Hell), and it cannot be proven by actual experience as the author pretend that it can be through actual experience...So for those who want to do this bid'ah: this newly invented matter by reciting 70,000 times la ilaha illa Allah to be saved from the fire of Hell, the question I asked them:
Is there any Authentic Hadeeth reporting that the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam agreed or did or command this practice?
The answer is NO, then there is NO GOOD to do something that the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam and his Companions never did.
Practicing this bid'ah will lead someone to pretend that the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam forgot to inform his community on something that can save us from the Hell Fire!!!!
While it was reported that the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam said:
"I have not left anything that will draw you nearer to Allah - except that I have enjoined it upon you. ANd I have not left anything that will take you away from Allah and draw you to the Fire excepte that I have forbidden it for you."
This practice of reciting 70,000 times la ilaha illa Allah is then a CLEAR INNOVATION (bid'ah) taught in this deviant book of the deviant sect of Tablighi Jama'at.
And the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam said:
"Every newly-invented thing is a bid'ah (innovation, every bid'ah is going astray, and every going astray will be in the Fire"
So repeating 70,000 times la ilaha illa Allah, with the intention that this deed will save someone from the Fire...it will, in reality lead someone to be astray and he will be under the threat of entering in Fire of Hell, because it is an innovation (bid'ah), then this bid'ah is going astray, and every-going astray will be in the Fire as the Prophet salla Allah alayhi wa sallam said...
and Allah knows Best...
